It's time to choose yourself

Welcome to Sarah Garven Coaching.
Does your life look good on paper, but somehow just feels... meh?
Are you responsible for others, holding your own at work and home, but just aren't sure if the life you've carefully built is actually the one you want?
I want you to know that choosing yourself doesn't have to mean letting anyone down.
Come and join me for coaching that is thoughtful and grounded, creating space around all the noise of your other responsibilities so you can finally hear yourself clearly.
No jargon, no noise. Just putting yourself back into the picture, perhaps without even realising you'd slipped out of it.
About
Is this you?
You're very good at getting things done.
You've worked hard, built a career, a home, a family, a life. You're capable, responsible and often the person other people rely on.
And yet, if you get a rare moment to stop and look around, you might find yourself wondering:
Is this actually the life I want?
You may already have spent a lot of time thinking about it. You're self-aware and thoughtful. You've probably analysed the situation from every possible angle.
But knowing why you feel the way you do isn't always the same as knowing what to do next.
Simply thinking harder is rarely the answer.
I know. I tried.
This is where I come in.
My coaching creates space to step outside the noise of your everyday responsibilities, hear yourself think, and work out what you actually want.
No telling you what you should do. No ready-made answers. Just honest conversations, thoughtful questions and grounded support while you figure out what comes next.
Because choosing yourself doesn't have to mean letting anyone else down.
Meet Sarah Garven

VET
As a veterinary surgeon who has also studied for several post graduate qualifications, I have been there - juggling work, family and studying. I have been full-time, part time as well as doing locum shifts. I have changed fields within veterinary medicine, studied full time for a PhD and also had a significant period of time at home with my children.
I experienced burnout fairly early in my professional life and thought I would never practice veterinary medicine again, but the right question, asked at the right time, turned everything around and I'm now back in the clinic.
The power of questions is what made me passionate about coaching. I love helping people see the possibilities that can emerge when they take the time to really listen to their own wisdom.

COACH
I qualified as a personal performance coach in 2022 with the Coaching Academy. Soon after I also carried out training to be able to provide in depth personality profile analysis using the DISC model. I then completed the first aider in mental health course.
I have enjoyed working with women in a wide range of professions including veterinary medicine, medicine, law, HR, science and education as well as fellow coaches.
Several of my clients have achieved further qualifications while working with me.
I love developing 1:1 relationships through coaching, I love the deep conversations, facilitating my clients taking time to really become aware of their own needs and prioritising themselves. Choosing yourself is never the wrong thing to do. When you are thriving, you can actually support everyone around you more fully too.

PERSONAL
I live in a fantastic wee community on the west coast of Scotland and enjoy all that this amazing part of the world has to offer. I grew up just a Ferry ride away so I am very much at home.
Ferries are often a big part of life for communities here, and my commute to the clinic on vet work days involves a return trip on the Corran Ferry. On coaching days I work from home connecting with clients over Zoom, and enjoying the views out over the hills.
I love swimming at all times of the year and many types of outdoors adventures with my family.
I have been an on and off runner for years and completed the first ever Stirling Marathon. I also enjoy playing football and love supporting our local shinty teams.

Career Coaching Client.....
I found my coaching sessions with Sarah extremely helpful. She helped me master my leadership skills within the workplace and my build my confidence in dealing with difficult situations. Within my family life, she helped me balance the intricacies of having a busy work schedule and maintaining the fun in my home, which she helped me identify as a major requirement in my life (sadly lacking since the global pandemic!)
From the coaching sessions, I had many “penny drop” moments, and was able to utilise, and continue to utilise, these to full effect.
There is no doubt coaching can be challenging, and Sarah helped me dig deep into emotions and beliefs, and she fully supported me throughout these sessions. At the start, we set out my goals and discussed what I wanted to achieve through her coaching, and at the end of the sessions, it was great to see how we had accomplished these goals.
Without Sarah, I would not have been able to stand up and deliver a lecture at one of the veterinary industry’s leading conferences, and this wasn’t even one of my goals! Her coaching skills helped me immensely and I shall continue to use everything I learnt every day.

What My Clients say
Career Coaching Client.....
My goals were mainly around resilience and self-confidence. So through the 12 sessions that Sarah has conducted with me, I have been working on better resilence on both my work and personal life. Working hard at combatting the negative thought patterns I have and building in more positivity, more things for myself and reducing the guilty feelings I have.
The sessions have certainly helped pave the way forward for me and built in some boundaries and goals in my work life to ensure I feel more confident in my abilities.
Sarah has been kind and supportive, especially at times when I have been struggling. She’s checked in on me and given me a boost when I’ve needed it. I willl most certainly be taking away a lot of things from the sessions to further help me in daily life.

DISC profile clients

Individual Personality Profile Clients......
My most improtant takeaway was to hear about how to communicate more effectively with people by presenting information to them in their preferred style. In our session you were friendly, approachable, professional and knowledgable.
Kay M.
Having a DISC profile session with Sarah was so useful. It allowed me to understand how I am with other people but more improtantly how other people are with me. It will serve me well at work and I think that everyone should have a DISC profile done, particularly if you work in a team.

Small Business Personality profile and team dynamics clients.......
Sarah provided incisive personality analysis with in-depth discussion. Perfect for my team!

Ways we can work together

One to One coaching packages
Here we have space to really look at how things are right now.
We'll celebrate what's going well, as well as calmly exploring what no longer feels right. There's no need to arrive with everything neatly worked out, that's the point.
Everyone is different, and there is no set amount of time after which coaching is naturally "finished".
That's why I work flexibly, offering both one-off sessions and ongoing support.
Perhaps you want one session to start untangling a particular issue. No problem.
Or perhaps you'd like ongoing support, giving you time to explore what's changing and allow new choices to really settle into your life. We can do that too.
I bring my own experience and method of coaching, but there isn't a formula to follow. We work with what you actually need.
Who will you discover you are with coaching?

Individual DISC profile session
Curious about how you naturally communicate and respond to the people around you?
In this 90-minute session, we'll explore your individual DISC personality profile, uncover your strengths and look at how you can use that understanding to communicate more effectively with others.
A practical way to understand yourself — and the people around you — a little better.

Small team strengths session
Help your team understand how they work best together.
Using DISC personality profiling, we explore individual strengths, communication styles and the different ways people naturally approach work.
These sessions give teams a shared language for understanding each other, communicating more effectively and making the most of the strengths already within the team.
Ideal for small teams who want to improve communication, collaboration and working relationships.
Prefer to start on your own? I have created a self-guided workbook, to help you get clear on how things really are right now, and start thinking about the life you would like to start living.
My Approach
How we work together
I bring the structure, you bring the content.
Start with a conversation
Sessions are carried out over Zoom so you can carry out your sessions in a place where you feel comfortable. We'll begin by talking about what's going on for you and what you'd like to get from coaching. You don't need to arrive with a perfectly formed goal, figuring that out is often part of the work we'll do.
Make space to think
Our sessions give you time away from the noise of everyday responsibilities to explore what's working, what isn't, and what you actually want.
You don't need to prepare a presentation, arrive with a list of goals or know exactly what you want to talk about. I'll provide the structure and guidance for our sessions, while the content is shaped around you — what's happening in your life, what you're noticing and what you want to explore.
We'll look at what's working as well as what's not, I'll ask those powerful questions, and make space for you to think properly.
Sometimes the most useful thing is simply having an hour where you don't have to look after anyone else.
Take it at your pace
There isn't a prescribed formula or a set number of sessions. You might come for one session to untangle a particular issue, or choose ongoing support while you make changes and allow things to settle.
If you choose ongoing coaching, we'll agree the rhythm and level of support that works for you. The aim isn't to keep you in coaching indefinitely — it's to give you the support you need, for as long as it's useful.
